Cracked

He was broken
His very soul cracked and dry.
“Just let me fix him,
give me time to fix him.”
With his every breath, his every word
She grew battered and bruised
She hid it all so well.
They sank beneath her skin
Locked away, hidden in her heart-shaped box.
“Just let me fix him.
I just want to fix him.”
His face fought to see the light.
His heart wrestled with the mercy born of love.
“Let me wallow in my shattered world,”
he said,
“I like it here.
Alone…
I like it alone.”
“Please, Just let me fix you.
Put the broken shards away.
Let me fix you.”

He let her fall to her knees
Alone.
Love took her hand
And whispered.
“Here. Let me fix you.”
